How do I add another mesh point to an existing Wi-Fi network?

Confirm the existing network is healthy

Before adding a point, make sure the main mesh unit is online and that a phone can use the current Wi-Fi normally. This separates an add-point problem from a wider internet outage.

Add one point at a time

1. Plug the new point in near the main router or another working mesh point. 2. Open the app used to manage the existing mesh. 3. Use its add-device flow and follow the model-specific prompts. 4. Wait for the app to show that the point has joined before moving it. 5. Place it where it can still communicate well with the rest of the mesh. 6. Run a mesh or connection test if the system provides one.

What the result means

A point that never joins beside a working unit needs an add-point or compatibility check. A point that joins but performs poorly after being moved is more likely a placement or inter-node-link issue. A point that was healthy and later disappears belongs in the offline-point path.

Avoid unnecessary disruption

Do not remove or reset the whole mesh to add one point. Resetting the new unit may be appropriate only when its manufacturer specifically recommends it; resetting the main router can take the entire home offline.

Get help when

Use the manufacturer’s support instructions if the app cannot discover the point, reports that the unit belongs to another network, or identifies a model-compatibility issue.
