Home Wi-Fi question
Why does only one device have no internet while other Wi-Fi devices work?
Questions with the same meaning and scope are grouped here; questions with different scope stay separate.
Quick answer
Current answer
If other devices use the same Wi-Fi normally, begin with the affected device rather than the router or ISP. Reconnect it to Wi-Fi, test more than one service, and check device-specific settings.
Confirm that it is really one device
Use another phone, computer, or tablet on the same Wi-Fi to open a normal website. On the affected device, try more than one website or app. This avoids treating a single service outage as a home-network outage.
Repair the local connection
1. Turn Wi-Fi off and on. 2. Restart the device. 3. Forget the home Wi-Fi network, then join it again using the current password. 4. Check for an active VPN, custom DNS, security filter, or work-management profile that might be affecting this device. 5. Install pending operating-system updates when the device maker recommends them.
Tell device, local-network, and internet problems apart
If the device cannot join Wi-Fi, that is a connection problem rather than a no-internet problem. If it joins but only one app fails, investigate that app or service. If the device works on another Wi-Fi network but not at home after reconnecting, keep the router maker in the loop with the device model and error details.
Avoid changing the whole home for one device
Do not change the router password or factory-reset the router because of one device unless other tests show a wider problem. Those actions can disconnect everyone and create a larger recovery task.
Get help when
Contact the device maker if the device cannot reach ordinary services after reconnecting and removing temporary network settings. Contact the router maker if the device is specifically blocked, cannot obtain a connection while others do, or the router app reports a device-level restriction.
