Home Wi-Fi question
How can I tell whether the problem is my Wi-Fi network or my internet service provider?
Questions with the same meaning and scope are grouped here; questions with different scope stay separate.
Quick answer
Current answer
Confirm your Wi-Fi works by checking that other devices can connect to it. If the network is unavailable, reboot the router; if that does not fix the problem, check with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for outages.

Scope & boundaries
- Applies when
- Use when the user has not yet localized a connectivity or performance problem to: - the local wireless/home network; or - the upstream internet service. This is a diagnostic-routing question.
- Does not apply when
- Excluded when: a single client-specific issue is already established; a location-specific weak-signal problem is already established; the question is specifically about speed rather than connectivity → A1-25; the user already knows all devices are affected and just needs the no-internet path → A1-13..
